RM Sothebys describes 027R as one of 28 McLaren F1 GTRs built, and one of only 10 longtail examples produced for the 1997 specification. It was delivered new to Parabolica Motorsports and won on its first outing at the 1997 British GT season opener at Silverstone, a result often cited as the first win for a longtail bodied F1 GTR.
The car also ran the 1997 FIA GT Championship season with multiple top six finishes, and it appeared at the 1997 24 Hours of Le Mans under Team Lark McLaren.
