Hyundai just revealed that it’s dramatically shrinking the Kona EV line, leaving only the slowest, cheapest version available. It seemed like a strange move, especially with compelling affordable offerings from Chevy with the Equinox EV, and Nissan with its new Leaf. However, when Hyundai announced that change, it hadn’t yet revealed the new pricing for the Ioniq 5. As it turns out, the company is slashing prices on the EV, effectively filling the space that the Kona used to, but with more space, more performance, and better charging. The price change comes just in time to make up for the now defunct federal EV tax credit.
