Samsung Galaxy Tablet users will soon get a new multitasking feature with the upcoming One UI 8 update. The latest build of the One UI 8 reveals that the company is pushing a new multitasking layout that will make it easier for users to run more than two apps at once.
One UI 8 new multitasking layout allows up to 3 simultaneous apps on Galaxy tablets
In the current form, multitasking on Samsung tablets already supports two apps side by side through split-screen. However, the new build of One UI 8 based on Android 16 goes a step further by allowing three apps to be displayed on the screen. Users will be able to open up to three different apps in a 50:25:25 layout. One app covers half of the area of the screen, while the other two cover 1/4th of the display.
The new layout aims to improve the multitasking experience on the Galaxy tablets. The setup is designed to be more flexible. Moreover, it makes multitasking more practical for users who rely on their tablets for both study and work. It makes it easier to access video calls, notes, and browsers all in one go. Apps can also be resized and rearranged easily, giving users more control over how their tablet’s screen is utilized.

Samsung aims to give its users a new taste of multitasking
Similar multitasking features can be found on OnePlus tablets. However, Samsung’s approach to multitasking could give it an edge, as it offers more flexible control over the screen and the apps. The One UI 8 (latest build) users of the Galaxy Tab S11 series and certain S10 series devices can use this feature. Many devices that have already received the One UI 8 update might not have access to the new layout. But it is expected to roll out to a broader audience soon.
