Xiaomi has just announced two new smartphones, the Xiaomi 15T series. The devices in question are the Xiaomi 15T and Xiaomi 15T Pro. They were announced during an event in Munich.
These two phones are very similar design-wise, but there are differences under the hood. Let’s talk about the design first, and we’ll then share more spec information with you.
They are very similar design-wise
You need to have a keen eye in order to spot a design difference here, as the two phones are almost identical. There is a difference on the back, in the camera island section. The Xiaomi 15T has an LED flash included in one of the circles on the back, while the Xiaomi 15T Pro does not. It includes some extra sensors inside that fourth circle.
Other than that, the two phones look the same, basically. They both have a frame made out of aluminum, which is flat, but does curve towards the edges. A flat display with a centered display camera hole, and thin, uniform bezels is used on both phones.
All physical keys sit on the right-hand side, and have the same layout on both phones. On the back, you’ll notice a camera island in the top-left corner. Both phones include three cameras there, but they have different units.
What they have in common, spec-wise
When it comes to specs, these two smartphones do have some similarities. They have identical displays, for example. You’re getting a 6.83-inch AMOLED display on both. That display offers a 120Hz refresh rate, a 3,200-nit peak brightness, and a resolution of 2772 x 1280 pixels. A 3,840Hz PWM dimming is also included, as is the Gorilla Glass 7i display protection.
The two phones also have the same battery. You’ll find a 5,500mAh unit inside both of them. The charging is different, we’ll talk about that soon. There are also two stereo speakers on both phones, with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res audio support.
Both phones include the Xiaomi 3D IceLoop System cooling and 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. Both of them also ship with UFS 4.1 flash storage, which is not expandable. Bluetooth 6.0 is on both phones too, as is IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. That’s about it as far as similarities are concerned.
What’s different?
They have different SoCs. The Xiaomi 15T is fueled by the MediaTek Dimensity 8400-Ultra chip, while the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ fuels the Xiaomi 15T Pro. The latter phone is notably more powerful, needless to say. It also comes with up to 1TB of storage, while the Xiaomi 15T is on offer with up to 512GB of storage.
The ‘Pro’ model has faster charging
The Xiaomi 15T supports only wired charging, up to 67W. The Xiaomi 15T Pro supports 90W wired and 50W wireless charging. Neither phone ships with a charger in the box, however, only a charging cable.
When it comes to cameras, the Xiaomi 15T features a 50-megapixel main camera (Light Fusion 800 sensor, f/1.7 aperture, OIS), along with a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera (120-degree FoV). A 50-megapixel telephoto camera (f/1.9 aperture) is also included here.
If you want a better camera system, the Xiaomi 15T Pro is the one for you
The Xiaomi 15T Pro, on the other hand, comes with a 50-megapixel main camera (Light Fusion 900 sensor, f/1.62 aperture), a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera (f/2.2 aperture, 120-degree FoV), and a 50-megapixel super telephoto camera (f/3.0 aperture, OIS, 5x optical zoom).
The cheaper model ships with Wi-Fi 6E support, while the Xiaomi 15T Pro includes Wi-Fi 7. The former.
They also have slightly different measurements
The Xiaomi 15T measures 163.2 x 78 x 7.5mm and weighs 194 grams. It’s available in Black, Gray, and Rose Gold colors.
The Xiaomi 15T Pro measures 162.7 x 77.9 x 7.96mm and weighs 210 grams. That phone comes in Black, Gray, and Mocha Gold color variants.
What about pricing? The Xiaomi 15T starts at €650 for the 12GB RAM model with 256GB of storage. The ‘Pro’ model starts at €800 for the same RAM + storage configuration. They’ll both become available soon.
