Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell is giving remarks from Rhode Island Tuesday on the U.S. economy, just a week after the nation’s central bank agreed to lower interest rates by a quarter of a point.
The rate drop was the first since President Trump returned to the White House as the Fed attempts to ease pressure on the job market following two dismal job reports. The move also came after months of pressure from the Trump administration.
His comments from Providence, R.I., are scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. EDT.
