German innovator Carl Benz created the first car in 1885. Shortly after the car was revealed, his wife Bertha took their two kids for a bit of an overland adventure in the Benz Patent Motor Car, effectively placing the automobile on the map as a viable alternative to the good old horse carriage. The age of the car had arrived.
