- The famous design studio is working on a Honda NSX-inspired model.
- Vague teaser offers little info, but the new car is expected to be inspired by the original.
Italdesign has announced it is working on a mystery new model that’ll serve as a tribute to the iconic Honda NSX. Very little is known about the car, but reimagining one of the most iconic sports cars to ever leave Japan will not be easy. If Italdesign doesn’t get it right, enthusiasts will definitely let it know.
The Italian design firm announced it was working on an NSX tribute in a post recently shared to social media. The image shows nothing more than the Honda and NSX badges, set on a blue background with the Italdesign logo at the bottom.

It looks like Italdesign has been given the green light by Honda itself to build a new tribute car from the ground up, perhaps similar to what Lamborghini itself did with the Aventador-based Countach LPI 800-4. We have no idea if that will be a one-off or a limited-edition special yet.
Italdesign’s model is expected to pay tribute to the original, first-generation model, which showed the world it was possible to have a powerful and fast sports car that was also reliable.
The original NSX was designed in-house by Honda, but a concept version of it was introduced in 1984 with styling from none other than Pininfarina. The first-gen model has aged gracefully, and it would serve as the perfect base for a new version.
