This ’87 Buick Grand National is about as low-mileage a Buick as you’ll find. Currently for sale over on Bring a Trailer, the Grand National has just 77 miles on it. The car is so untouched, in fact, that the window sticker is still attached.

According to the listing, this Grand National was sold new by Hewitt Motors of Richwood, West Virginia, and stayed in storage for over 30 years before it was purchased by the current owner in 2021. By and large, it’s an untouched time capsule of a car. The accompanying window sticker aside, the car’s body is immaculate. Wherever this car sat for 30-some years, it was kept clean and out of the elements.
Unsurprisingly, the car is already set to bring some serious money to the selling dealer. With 77 miles on the clock, it’s one of the lowest mileage examples ever sold on Bring a Trailer, and that’ll probably stay true for some time. On average, these Grand Nationals frequently sell for around $30,000-$50,000, though this one is bidding at $77,000 at time of publishing. With just one day to go, we suspect some late bidding will push it into six-figure territory.
Holy Deferred Maintenance
Bring A Trailer
There’s a problem with cars in this condition, however. That old “cars are made to be driven” line isn’t just something people with poorly maintained sports cars and too high an asking price spit out on Facebook Marketplace. It’s true, and allowing a car to sit without use usually means tons of little things begin to degrade. You can’t stop time, and it’s just as likely that wear items like belts, bushings, and suspension need replacement and repair on this Grand National as they do on one with 100,000 more miles.
Frankly, it’s likely this car will continue to sit. People don’t buy cars at this mileage to drive them. If this incredibly clean Grand National doesn’t get sold to an automotive museum, it’ll probably become another piece of someone’s private collection.
