Both BMW and Mercedes-Benz launched new electric entries in the hotly contested compact crossover SUV arena at the 2025 IAA Mobility show in Munich, Germany. For BMW, the spotlight is on the iX3, the first production model from its highly anticipated Neue Klasse family, marking a pivotal moment in the automaker’s EV onslaught as well as a new addition to the X3 range for US buyers (a previous-generation iX3 was offered overseas). Mercedes-Benz, meanwhile, unveiled the GLC with EQ Technology, a vehicle that shares little more than its name with the familiar GLC and represents a fresh, ground-up approach to EV design.
