BMW has revealed its first vehicle of its Neue Klasse (New Class) range of electric vehicles, looking to take a major leap forward into a new era of technology and design. However, it’s not BMW’s first use of the Neue Klasse name, and there’s a reason BMW is using it again. Back in 1960, BMW instigated a plan to update its outdated and now unprofitable line of luxury and economy-driven bubble cars. The situation was dire, with BMW facing bankruptcy and struggling to compete in the market, despite having high-end visionary products like the 501, 503, and 507. At the same time, the Isetta was past its peak and profits were slim. It was time for a new class of vehicle.
