Lenovo finally took the wraps off of its Legion Go 2 gaming handheld at IFA 2025 this week, and it’s a device we’ve been particularly excited about since we first heard about the handheld back at CES at the beginning of this year. In some ways, it’s the same great handheld as the original Legion Go, but with several improvements. While some might focus on the Ryzen Z2 Extreme as the headlining change (and it is an important one), we personally love the redesigned ergonomics. This, plus all of the other improvements, is why we decided to give the Lenovo Legion Go 2 the Best of IFA 2025 award.
The Lenovo Legion Go 2 offers a powerful on-the-go gaming experience
There’s no doubt about it, the Legion Go 2 is likely going to be the most powerful PC gaming handheld once it hits the market. From the Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU (there’s also a Ryzen Z2 model) to the detachable controllers, the Legion Go 2 offers a unique handheld experience you won’t get with the other options that are available. Namely, the ability to seamlessly swap from playing in handheld mode to a more standard PC gaming experience.
Once you pull the controllers off, the left one can act as your WASD movement, while the right one can act as your gaming mouse. The main unit (the display and all the components) sits propped up so you can play more traditionally. It’s what we’ve always loved about the Legion Go, and we’re glad Lenovo has stuck with it after getting rid of this feature on the Legion Go S.
Up to 2TB of storage, so it’s even harder to run out of space for games
Another really awesome improvement that Lenovo has made with this handheld is the storage. The Legion Go 2 will come with 2TB of storage for games, so you’ll find it a lot harder to run out of space for them. You also still have the option to insert a microSD card for even more space. That is, if it’s ever needed.
The improvements don’t stop there. The touch pad on the right is larger than before, and there’s a 74Whr battery to keep the device going. All in all, the Legion Go 2 is a beast of a handheld, and if you’re looking for the top option, regardless of price, this is it. The Legion Go 2 is the PC gaming handheld to look out for if unbeatable performance is your main goal, and that’s precisely why we have given it the Best of IFA 2025 award.
