It seems as though Ram will lean even further into the extended-range electric vehice (EREV) space, augmenting the forthcoming 1500 Ramcharger with something that might give owners of the Tesla Cybertruck some pause. Parent company Stellantis filed a patent yesterday on a “torque optimization system” for a three-motor electric vehicle with a range extender, and since packaging a gas engine, three motors, a fuel tank, and a battery would likely be a challenge on smaller vehicles, we think the powertrain will live in a Ram.
