Google Photos is rolling out some big changes to help you unleash your creativity. As usual, the latest upgrades to the app are AI-powered. More specifically, the Google Photos app is now integrating its latest video generation model, Veo 3, to give you more powerful AI tools right on your phone.
Veo 3 AI model now powers Google Photos’ photo-to-video tools
The most notable update is to the “photo-to-video” feature. If this sounds familiar, it’s because this is an existing tool. This is a feature that can turn a single still image into a short six-second clip. Well, the Google Photos tool is powered by Veo 3, promising even higher-quality results. Whether you want to add a subtle movement to a landscape or get a little more creative with the “I’m feeling lucky” option, the app will now do a better job than ever before.
If you’re not aware, Veo 3 is Google’s latest GenAI model for video. To make all these new features easier to find, the company is introducing a new “Create” tab in the Photos app. This tab is your new hub for all things creative. Alongside the upgraded photo-to-video feature, you’ll find a few other cool tools.
One of these tools is Remix, which lets you transform your photos into different artistic styles. You can choose styles like anime, comic book illustrations, or 3D animations. It’s a fun way to give your favorite pictures a completely new look. There’s also a new Highlight Videos tool that can automatically create video montages for you. All you have to do is type in a phrase like “Paris” or “my dog,” and the app will intelligently select your photos and videos and add music to create a video for you. Finally, a new Collage tool is also included, making it easy to combine multiple photos with a simple built-in editor.
These new AI tools are rolling out to Google Photos users in the US. It’s noteworthy that there are a limited number of daily generations for these features. However, Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers get more.
