The OnePlus 15 is the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone. It will succeed the OnePlus 13, which was announced back in October last year, and arrived to global markets several months after that. You’ll notice that the OnePlus 14 name is not mentioned here. The number ‘4’ is considered to be unlucky in China, which is why. OnePlus will jump from the OnePlus 13 name straight to OnePlus 15, it seems. The company did the same with the OnePlus 3 and 5.
Having said that, plenty of information about the OnePlus 15 has surfaced thus far. The closer we’re getting to the launch event, the more information seems to be popping up online. With that in mind, we’ve decided to group all that information into this article to give you a good idea of what you may expect once the launch event comes. OnePlus is cooking up yet another rather interesting smartphone.
This article will be regularly updated with new information on the OnePlus 15 (this is a preview article) — both official teasers and credible leaks, rumors, and insider claims — as it becomes available in the run-up to the release of the upcoming Android smartphone. This is the original posting of the article.
When will the Samsung OnePlus 15 be released?
At this point in time, we only know that the phone is expected to launch in October. The exact launch date has not been tipped just yet, let alone announced by the company. The OnePlus 13 arrived at the very end of the month, on October 31. This model is expected to arrive a bit earlier than that. Do note that this is a China launch we’re talking about. The global model of the device will likely arrive in Q1 next year, though we’re only guessing at this point, based on what happened with the OnePlus 13.
What models are coming?
The OnePlus 15 will allegedly be available in both 12GB and 16GB RAM variants, at least globally. Users in China could also get a 24GB RAM option. Storage options will go from 256GB to 1TB, and you won’t be able to expand that storage. OnePlus is set to offer the phone in three colors, based on rumors. Those colors will be Black, Purple, and Titanium. The company could have different names for them, though. That black model is rumored to be a ‘SuperBlack’ aka ‘Moon Rock Black’ color, as its design is inspired by a black hole, allegedly.
How much will the OnePlus 15 cost?
The phone’s price tag did not leak out just yet. However, it could end up having the same price as the OnePlus 13, which would be an outstanding price point for the device. As a reminder, the OnePlus 13 was priced at $899 at launch, for a 12GB RAM model with 256GB of storage. That represented a $100 price hike compared to the OnePlus 12, but not many people complained, as it was still a great price point. Let’s hope that OnePlus will be able to keep that price tag for the OnePlus 15, too.
What will the OnePlus 15 look like?
We usually know what an upcoming OnePlus smartphone will look like at this point (featured image is a concept image). What’s interesting is that the OnePlus 15 did not leak out just yet. We’re expecting to see it soon, but it did not appear just yet. Still, some design-related details did surface, so we can talk about that. The phone will have a flat display, well, at least in the sense that the display itself won’t be curved, even though the glass on top of it could be… a bit. We’re once again expecting to see a centered display camera hole on the phone.
Chances are that the device will be made out of aluminum and glass once again, though a vegan leather option could be included, too. An easily noticeable design change that is expected, compared to the OnePlus 13, is on the back. The OnePlus 15 is rumored to replace a circular camera island, with a rectangular one. It will do something similar to what the OnePlus 13T did.
The overall size of the phone will likely be similar to what the OnePlus 13 offers. OnePlus will want to keep a large display on the phone. The bezels around the display will be uniform, and they’ll likely be quite thin too. The alert slider on the left side will be replaced with the so-called ‘Quick Key’ button, which was already included on the OnePlus 13T. So we know exactly what is coming.
What specs will the OnePlus 15 have?
The OnePlus 15 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor, or the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which is another rumored name for it. That much has been confirmed by a recent Geekbench listing. The phone will come in two RAM variants; you’ll be able to choose between 12GB and 16GB of RAM, at least globally. In China, a 24GB RAM option could join the other two. The device will ship in variants with 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB of storage.
We also know that the phone will feature a 165Hz AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution. That will be a 6.78-inch LIPO display, which will be flat. Android 16 will come pre-installed on the phone, along with OnePlus’ OxygenOS 16 skin. A 7,000mAh battery is also rumored, as that will be a silicon-carbon unit, as was the case with the OnePlus 13. The phone will support faster wired charging at 120W. 50W wireless charging is also expected.
What about the cameras? Well, a triple 50-megapixel setup is expected. We still don’t know the exact sensors that OnePlus will use, but we’re expecting compelling hardware to be included. The company is also rumored to debut its first in-house camera engine, and possibly even ditch Hasselblad. We don’t really see that happening, as OnePlus signed a new deal with Hasselblad, and Hasselblad was a bit part of a major improvement seen in OnePlus’ camera performance.
Should you wait to buy the OnePlus 15?
The OnePlus 15 is shaping up to be another very compelling offering from OnePlus. Its price tag will play a huge part in its appeal, though, as it did in the past. If the company manages to keep the same price as for the OnePlus 13, this phone could appeal to many people. A more powerful processor, a display with a higher refresh rate, a larger battery, faster charging, and more improvements are expected. We still don’t have the whole picture, but what we’re seeing thus far seems to be very compelling.
