DJI has launched an ultralight wireless microphone, the Mic 3. This is the third wireless mic from the brand in less than two years. The new version brings several changes, including improved audio capture quality and better noise reduction. The DJI Mic 3 weighs just 16 grams compared to 28 grams for the Mic 2. The DJI microphone has five color choices for the windscreen.
The microphone features adaptive gain control, which is a first for the series. This offers two modes to handle volume fluctuations. Automatic mode curbs sudden spikes to prevent clipping in loud outdoor settings like drone events. The Dynamic mode balances levels for consistent output in low-noise studios.Â
DJI Mic 3 offers a Lossless Audio feature
The DJI Mic 3 is equipped with three voice tone presets: Regular, Rich, and Bright. These let you customize audio for diverse speakers. The microphone also minimizes the background interference, thanks to two-level noise cancellation. The clarity is enhanced further when paired with the windscreen. The Lossless Audio feature transmits uncompressed 48KHz 24-bit sound. This preserves minute details from whispers to shouts.
DJI Mic 3 can connect up to four transmitters and eight receivers simultaneously for clear audio across devices. You can set the receiver to quadrophonic mode for select Sony cameras and software. This allows Independent output of four channels at once to a single camera. The DJI Mic 3 offers a 400-meter range and interference resistance through automatic frequency hopping between 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
The DJI Mic 3 brings improved transmitter mounting options, courtesy of a rotating clip, along with the magnetic option. The design allows for on-the-go recharging via an all-in-one charging case that can store two transmitters and one receiver.

A quick 5-minute charge offers two hours of use
DJI is also adding internal dual-file 32-bit float recording. This is said to record the highest quality possible without any clipping.  The Mic 3 works with DJI’s OsmoAudio system without the need for a receiver. For other devices, you can wire it via a 3.5mm TRS port, TRRS monitoring, and a USB Type-C port. For smartphones, you can connect via Bluetooth or USB-C using the included adapter.Â
On full charge, the transmitter offers about eight hours, and the receiver can run for 10 hours. The case offers about 28 hours of extended use. There’s Quick Charging, where you get two hours of power from just five minutes of charge. A complete charge takes 50 minutes. You also get power-saving tech like auto-sleep and auto-off.
Price and availability
The DJI Mic 3 sets you back by 309 euros ($359) for the kit with a charging case, two transmitters, and a receiver. The single transmitter and receiver kit costs 199 euros ($232). The microphone is reportedly not yet available in the US, like the other recent products from DJI. For other regions, it’s available via the DJI Store and partner outlets.
