According to a new leak out of Germany, it appears that Apple will announce the iPhone 17 series on September 9.
This date does line up with when Apple has announced the iPhone in previous years – typically the week after Labor Day. And Gurman did note that we could see an event on either September 9 or September 10.
If the event happens on September 9 this year, that means we will see a boatload of iPhone cases at IFA in Berlin just a few days before the iPhone 17 announcement. It also means that pre-orders will likely open up on September 12 and start shipping on September 19.
Apple is expected to announce at least four new iPhones
This time around, Apple is expected to again announce four new iPhones, with the new iPhone 17 Air replacing the “Plus” model. So we’ll have the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. All of which will have a unique design, apparently. The Pro models have their camera bar extend across the entire backside of the phone, like the Pixel currently does. While the iPhone 17 Air will do the same, but in a smaller fashion, as it will have only one camera.
Apple does typically announce new Apple Watches at this event, and we could also see new AirPods. So this would include the Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch SE 3, Apple Watch Ultra 3 and maybe even a new pair of AirPods Pro 3.
The Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 are basically a lock, but the Apple Watch SE 3 might be a bit of a stretch as we haven’t seen many rumors for that watch just yet. On the other hand, it is definitely time for the Apple Watch SE to get upgraded. As the last one came out in 2022.
