After sharing a few renders of the Samsung Galaxy A17 earlier this week, we now have even more renders as well as marketing images of the new ultra-budget device.
Samsung will continue its obsession with being thinner on the Galaxy A17 as well, dropping down to 7.5mm on the Galaxy A17 versus 7.99mm thick on the Galaxy A16. It will also lose a few grams, from 200g down to 192g.
As far as specs go, we know that it will have a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Which is pretty incredible, since Apple won’t offer more than 60Hz on anything that’s below $1,000. Samsung is also using Corning Gorilla Glass Victus here to protect the display.
Despite earlier rumors, it appears that the Galaxy A17 will continue to use the Exynos 1330, the same chip that the Galaxy A16 used last year. It will also offer a few different storage and RAM variants. With 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB of RAM paired with 128GB of storage. Or 8GB of RAM paired with 256GB of storage. And it will also continue to have a microSD card slot that supports up to 2TB of storage.
And it’ll have IP54 for dust and water resistance.

Samsung’s Galaxy A17 sports a triple-camera setup
Samsung is sticking with virtually the same camera setup this time around on the Galaxy A17, which includes a 50MP primary sensor, 5MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro camera. The big change this year is that Samsung is adding OIS to the main camera.
All of this will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery that also supports 25W charging. And surprisingly, the charger is included in the box, at least in the UK. As we can see, this charger is using the UK plug.
Samsung is also including a slew of AI features with the Galaxy A17. This includes Gemini built in, with access from the power button. Circle to Search, and Cross App AI, which is also powered by Gemini. It’ll launch with One UI 7, surprisingly, which is based on Android 15. But Samsung is promising 6 OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates. That’s quite impressive for a sub-$200 smartphone.
The Galaxy A16 was announced in October of 2024, so we’re expecting a similar launch date for the Galaxy A17 this year. Likely shortly after the Galaxy S25 FE debuts.
