Verizon had hiked the prices of its plans last year. The telecom giant is once again planning to impose another price hike on its customers. Some plans are expected to witness a price increase of as much as 150%. Regulatory charges are expected to be affected due to the hike.
Verizon Prepares for Another Price Hike
A user on Reddit has reported that Verizon is preparing for another price hike. This hike will cover all of its users, and no one will be spared. Starting with the fees you pay every time you activate a device on its network, the activation fee is going to increase from $35 to $40. This is nearly a 15% increase from the previous price.
Tablet plans are going to see a price hike of $5 each plan. For reference, the current cheapest tablet plan costs you $20 a month. And this is without any discounts. The same plan will now cost you $25 a month.
Some plans are going to see a 150% price increase
Customers who are on the voice line, get ready to pay $3.78 instead of $3.50. Users on the data-only plan will have to pay about 150% more compared to its previous plan price. It will now cost $3.97 instead $1.60.
Verizon also imposes a small regulatory fee that covers its ongoing cost of compliance with government mandates and assessments. The regulatory fees were previously set to $0.19 per line. It is now going to be increased to $0.21 per line. However, the regulatory charges for the data-only plan remain unaffected for now.
Last but not least, the loyalty discount that Verizon used to offer $10 price cut to its users for not shifting to other smartphone carriers is going away as well. The new prices are expected to be in effect starting next month. The customers will be notified before their plans’ prices are changed.
