In the highly competitive US smartphone arena, the Google Pixel has quietly but steadily been making its mark. The company has long been working to capture market share in key markets. This has resulted in notable growth in regions like Japan. Now, it appears that Google‘s efforts to increase Pixel phone sales are also paying off in the US, securing a top market share position in Q2 2025.
A new report reveals that Google’s own phone brand has officially secured the number 4 position in the US market. This is a meaningful achievement as the highly anticipated Pixel 10 launch draws closer.
Google Pixel phones claim 4th place in US market share for Q2 2025
According to Canalys, during the Q2 of 2025 (April through June), Google Pixel devices captured 3% of the overall US smartphone market. This success is backed by shipping approximately 800,000 units in that period. This also marks a respectable 13% year-over-year growth from about 700,000 units shipped in the same quarter last year. This consistent climb has allowed Pixel to surpass rivals like TCL, which saw a 23% decline in shipments.

While Google Pixel is celebrating its fourth-place spot, it still stands behind Motorola. The latter commands a 12% market share in the country. At the very top, Apple continues to lead with 49% of the market, despite an 11% dip in shipments this quarter. Samsung, however, saw an impressive emergence. The market share of the South Korean giant reached 31% thanks largely to strong sales of its Galaxy A-series devices.
Slow but steady growth
It’s worth noting that while Google’s growth is significant, its pace has somewhat cooled compared to previous reports. For instance, in 2023, Google Pixel was estimated to hold nearly 5% of the US market. However, with the Pixel 10 series expected to launch in August, the third-quarter numbers for Google could see a healthy boost. Last year’s Pixel 9 launch, for example, delivered Google’s “highest-ever” quarterly sales. This set a precedent for potential future success.
Canalys points out that achieving substantial growth for newer brands in the US market is particularly challenging. The top three smartphone vendors collectively account for over 90% of all shipments. So, there’s a narrow window of opportunity for other players. This highlights the tough battle ahead for brands like Google Pixel as they strive to expand their footprint against established giants. Could Google one day be at the top alongside Apple and Samsung? Only time will tell.
