OnePlus has launched the mid-range Nord 5 and Nord CE5 phones for global markets. These are the brand’s more affordable offerings that sit below the flagship models. These offer refreshed hardware, brand new designs and faster charging speeds. Let’s take a look at the smartphones in complete detail.
OnePlus Nord 5 and Nord CE5 launched with upgraded specifications
The OnePlus Nord 5 takes the center stage as it’s the premium model of the two. It features a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with up to 144Hz refresh rate and 1,800 nits peak brightness. Meanwhile, the Nord CE5 has a smaller 6.77-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,300 nits brightness.
The OnePlus Nord 5 display gets a Corning Gorilla Glass 7i layer for protection and 3,840Hz high-frequency PWM dimming. There’s also HDR10+ support.
For performance, the OnePlus Nord 5 gets the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, which is an underclocked version of the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This is a notable improvement over the OnePlus Nord 4 that shipped with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC. The phone gets 8GB or 12GB LPDDR5x RAM and 256GB or 512GB UFS 3.1 storage.

Meanwhile, the Nord CE5 gets a chipset from the house of MediaTek, the Dimensity 8350. For comparison, the Nord CE 4 featured the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. There’s an advanced cooling system on both models for heat dissipation. It gets 8GB or 12GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage options.
Both phones can record 4K 60fps videos
With the OnePlus Nord 5, you get a dual-camera system on the back. There’s a 50MP (Sony LYT-700) main camera with OIS and an 8MP (OV08D10) ultra-wide-angle sensor. It features a 50MP (Samsung ISCOCELL JN5) sensor on the front.
Meanwhile, the OnePlus Nord CE5 gets a 50MP (Sony LYT-600) main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor with 112-degree Fov (field of view). There’s a 16MP lens on the front for selfies. The OnePlus Nord 5 and Nord CE5 can record 4K 60fps videos, which is pretty sweet for phones of this price. The former gets this ability even on the front camera.
The phones run on Android 15-based OxygenOS 15 skin on top. The company is promising four years of OS updates and 6 years of Android security updates. The new Nord models get an in-display fingerprint sensor for security. The Nord 5 is equipped with an IP65 rating for water and dust resistance.
The new Plus Key on the OnePlus Nord 5
The OnePlus Nord 5 gets the new Plus Key, replacing the Alert Slider. This opens up access to a sort of secondary memory, which it calls Mind Space. This offers quick access to sound profiles, AI tools, user-defined functions and more. Mind Space can get you information from screenshots, summerize it and store it for future use.

The OnePlus Nord 5 gets two battery models based on region. While the UK and Europe regions get a smaller 5,200mAh cell, India and other Asian regions receive a larger 6,800mAh battery. Regardless of the region, the phone supports 80W fast charging.
The OnePlus CE5 gets a reduced 5,200mAh cell for Europe and the UK regions, while India gets a 7,100mAh cell. The charging speed is standard at 80W.
Price and availability
The OnePlus Nord 5 price starts at £399 (~$542) for the 8GB/256GB variant in the UK and £499 (~678) for the 12GB/512GB. It is available in Marble Sands, Dry Ice, and Phantom Grey colours.
The OnePlus Nord CE5 is affordably priced at £249 (~$339) for the 8GB/128 version and £299 (~$406) for the 8GB/256 version.
The OnePlus Nord 5 and Nord CE 5 are readily available in the UK. The phones may not debut in the US, considering OnePlus hasn’t launched the Nord series in the region, except for the ‘Lite’ variants of the Nord CE series phones. Besides the two new Nord phones, OnePlus is also launching the OnePlus Pad Lite, Buds 4, and a smaller OnePlus Watch 3 variant. These will be available in the US.
