The Galaxy S25 Edge is one of the thinnest phones Samsung has launched to date. However, the company isn’t stopping there. According to the latest reports out of Korea, Samsung has plans to make the upcoming Galaxy S25 FE thinner as well.
Galaxy S25 FE will be thinner
According to the report, one of the changes Samsung is making to the Galaxy S25 FE is to the display panel. Unlike the regular OLED panels Samsung used in previous FE models, the company is switching to a flexible OLED panel. This shouldn’t be confused with the foldable panels Samsung uses for their foldable phones.
The difference between flexible OLED panels and more traditional panels is that they don’t come with a hard substrate. This allows the panels to be slightly slimmer than regular OLED panels. This means that the Galaxy S25 FE could be thinner than its predecessors. How much thinner, you might be wondering? According to the rumors, we could see a reduction from 8.0mm for the Galaxy S24 FE to 7.4mm for the Galaxy S25 FE.
To the naked eye, 0.6mm might not seem like much or be noticeable. However, it could make a difference in overall weight and also in how it feels in your hand. That being said, thin phones could present a problem in terms of repairability. But Samsung has proven the naysayers wrong with the Galaxy S25 Edge, showing that, despite its thinness, it isn’t impossible to repair.
What else do we know?
In addition to the rumors that the Galaxy S25 FE could be thinner, we’ve also heard reports that Samsung could shrink the bezels on the phone. This means that despite its rumored 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED 120Hz display, it might not feel as big. That’s great news for those who prefer something more svelte.
Also, the rumors are saying the phone will launch with Android 16 out of the box, along with a 4,700mAh battery with 45W charging. The phone will most likely be powered by Samsung’s Exynos 2400 chipset. We could also be looking at a 12MP front-facing camera, which uses the same sensor as the Galaxy S25, so image quality-wise shouldn’t be much of an issue.
Samsung hasn’t confirmed when the Galaxy S25 FE will launch yet. However, the Galaxy S24 FE launched in September last year, so maybe Samsung will stick to a similar timeframe.
