The Wellstar Health System hospital in Atlanta was recently demolished after closing in 2022. Plans for the location are to build over 1,000 residential units at the site.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports that Wellstar selected The Integral Group to redevelop the 22-acre site into a mix of housing, retail, office and green space. The Integral Group is the master developer, and other developers are expected to come aboard later.
Not all of the healthcare buildings at the site are being torn down. Healthcare-related services may still be incorporated.
Construction is expected to include several phases. A potential first phase could consist of housing and a grocery store.
On its website, Integral Group says that since 1993, it has partnered with cities to deliver projects that blend affordability, sustainability, and long-term value, from mixed-income housing to large-scale urban redevelopment.
