YouTube Music has just received a brand new feature, as it now allows you to share lyrics on both Android and iOS. This feature actually appeared back in April, but it was not rolled out widely at that point. It is now, though.
New YouTube Music feature lets you share nice-looking lyrics
Once this feature lands on your phone/app, you’ll be able to share lyrics with your friends. There’s a catch, though. You can share up to five lines of the song, if you choose more, the selection will reset.
That’s fine, as you rarely need more when it comes to sharing lyrics. People are always aiming for something specific, a specific verse. If you’re wondering how to do this, well, let me explain.
You’ll need to open the Now Playing screen to the Lyrics tab for a new ‘Share’ floating action button, which sits at the bottom. This will take you to a ‘Select lyrics’ screen from which you can tap and pick up to five lines of a song.
After you do that and tap ‘Next’, you’ll be able to choose from 10 different color backgrounds. The very first option will always match the background of the Now Playing screen, by the way. In any case, once choose the background, you’ll see the final look of your lyrics card.
The app will create a nice-looking lyrics card for you
Do note that the card you get always features album artwork in the top-left corner, with the song name and artist next to it. In the bottom-left corner, sits a subtle YouTube Music logo. No, you cannot remove it.
If you like what you’ve created, you can tap the ‘Save image’ option to save it to your phone. Alternatively, there’s a share option which allows you to share this directly with someone.
In order to get this feature, you’ll need to have version 8.24 of the app installed. The feature is available for both free and paid users, so don’t worry about that. The source claims that force-stopping the app will help you get the feature, if you don’t already have it on the aforementioned version of the app.
