Wiwynn, a Taiwanese cloud infrastructure company that makes data center servers, is spending $152 million on a new testing and manufacturing facility in Socorro, a town of 35,000 just east of El Paso. The facility is expected to create over 500 jobs.
The 833,000-square-foot facility will be located at 9220 Socorro and will be split across two buildings in the Socorro Logistics Center.Â
The Albuquerque Business Journal reports that El Paso County offered $2 million in tax abatement incentives, subject to the company’s making a capital investment of at least $92 million within El Paso County—$64 million in real property and $28 million in personal property assets. The city of Socorro offered a 10-year, 90% rebate of personal property taxes, valued at $1.25 million.Â
The company also runs a customer service facility north of Socorro, at 1430 Henry Brennan Drive.Â
The investment follows Oppidan’s $300 million data center in Socorro and Maersk’s new shipping facility there.Â
