- Numerous low-mileage Tesla Model Ys are available with discounts of up to $1,070.
- It’s also possible to find a Model Y Launch Series demo for under MSRP.
If you’re a fan of the new Tesla Model Y and want to get it for as little money as possible, buying a demo could be a good option. And, fortunately, there’s no shortage of them either, as many demo Model Ys are available across the United States for the first since the refreshed Juniper launched and are available for quick delivery.
A search through Tesla’s current inventory reveals dozens of Model Y demo cars available for purchase with discounts ranging from $490 to over $1,070. The mileage of these cars varies. Those with higher discounts, often upwards of $1,000, typically have just under 2,000 miles under their belt, while smaller discounts of around $510 are common for models that have been driven fewer than 1,000 miles.

Whether or not savings like these are enough to sway shoppers away from buying a brand-new model will depend on personal preference. For me personally, I’d rather pay the extra grand just to avoid driving something that’s spent its short life being poked, prodded, and “evaluated” by an endless parade of curious test drivers. But, cost of living problems remain widespread, and for many, any saving is a good deal.
It’s also possible to find a demo version of the short-lived Tesla Model Y Launch Series model. This well-equipped model was only available for a limited time, and we’ve found two of them available. The first is painted Stealth Grey and has covered 2,424 miles (3,901 km). It’s up for sale with a $1,200 discount, bringing the price down to $51,290 when factoring in the $7,500 federal EV tax credit.
A second Model Y Launch Series, this time painted in Ultra Red, is available for $51,890 (after the tax credit), equivalent to a $600 saving. It’s been driven just 833 miles (1,340 km).

The Model Y Launch Series represents good value for money, but only if you want all of the goodies that it comes standard with. Those who ordered it could get every single extra included, such as 20-inch wheels, a tow hitch, acceleration boost, and a full palette of paint colors. Most notably, it includes Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised) package, normally a $7,500 add-on, all baked in. That said, the demo Launch Editions in inventory might not include everything from the original package, apart from the FSD and the acceleration boost.
There’s also a current 1.99% APR financing offer available, but it only applies to the Long Range AWD model. The Long Range RWD and Launch Edition aren’t eligible. Tesla has also recently dropped lease rates on both AWD and RWD versions, which could make monthly payments a bit more tolerable.
