Why isn’t the McLaren ‘speedmark’ more of a thing? Think about it for a second. In the early 1990s, McLaren, already three decades old, created one of the most important supercars in history, the F1. Today, the brand’s portfolio is half a dozen strong (more if you count random food blenders) and could, at the behest of its new owner, soon to move into SUV territory a la principal rivals Ferrari and Porsche. On-track, meanwhile, McLaren wrapped up its ninth Constructors’ championship last year, already looks on course to secure its tenth in 2025, and has a world sports car championship campaign in the works for 2027 alongside a burgeoning IndyCar program.
