
Enovum Data Centers Corp. has bought a Greensboro yarn factory for $53.2 million. The 946,000-square-foot building at 805 Island Drive is on about 95 acres.
The Triad Business Journal reports that Unifi, based in Greensboro, is closing the Madison factory, putting it up for sale, and laying off 250 employees. Employees will be offered jobs at other Unifi operations.
Founded in 1971, Unifi makes filament and spun yarn, staple fiber, resin, and polyester flake used in apparel, footwear, home furnishings, industry, construction, medical, and military applications. Its Repreve brand recycled fiber is made from recycled plastic drink bottles.
On its website, Bit Digital says it provides data centers and cloud computing services for artificial intelligence and machine learning developers. It has bitcoin mining operations in the United States, Canada and Iceland.
