In 2009, SUVs were all the rage, Ford was well-established on the scene, and the new Flex would give them yet another model to help appeal to new shoppers who were ditching cars for SUVs at a tremendous rate. Marketed as a minivan alternative, this three-row would enjoy a ten-year career before retiring in 2019 as Ford shifted attention (and production capacity) to other incoming SUV projects like the electric Ford Mustang Mach E.
