Late last year, Ford pulled off a bit of a coup. The Mustang GTD smashed through the seven-minute mark at the toughest racetrack around. In the process, it became the first American car to do so at the Nürburgring, and, naturally, the fastest American car ever at the track. It established once and for all that the Ford Mustang GTD was supercar quick, but, also, it was a bit of a disappointment. Ford had cold weather and rain during its run, and that put a damper on achieving the best possible time.
