The global tablet market has sunk to a new low with data from Omdia showing that shipped units are now down by 23% year-over-year from Q3 2025 to Q3 2026. Most brands have lost market share for shipped units, save for one, and as a whole the entirety of the global tablet market is now down to 32 million units. According to Omdia, this is the lowest the tablet market has been in the past three years.
Last year at this time, there were over 41 million units shipped globally. With Apple having shipped the most out of any of the brands recorded. Apple is also still listed as the brand at the top, having shipped 11.5+ million units as of Q3 2026.
In the Q3 2026 global tablet market, Lenovo is the only brand that has increased its marketshare
For this quarter, every brand has shipped fewer units in the global tablet space, save for Lenovo. Apple shipped 15.9 million units as the number one tablet brand in Q3 2025. The same time this year, it has fallen to 11.5 million units shipped. Samsung is the second largest brand for units shipped, and it’s fallen from 6.9 million units shipped to 5.4 million units shipped.
Lenovo, on the other hand, has actually shipped more units in Q3 2026 than it did the same time last year. Going from 3.6 million units shipped to 4.09 million units this quarter. Tablet units shipped aren’t equal across regional markets either. For example, Omdia states that China, Western Europe, and the Middle East were the regions that saw the fewest shipments of any other tracked region around the globe. Omdia also expects that the tablet market isn’t going to bounce back before 2028, due to supply conditions “being expected to tighten further in 2027.”
