Redmagic announced its Redmagic OS 12 update timeline for 8 phones and tablets running Android 17. The upcoming software release includes visual interface changes, expanded lockscreen customization options, and several gaming-focused software additions.
According to the official list released by Redmagic, 8 separate devices will receive the Android 17 update across 4 release windows. The rollout begins in December 2026 for the Redmagic 11 Pro and 11S Pro lines right after the release of the newer Redmagic 12 Pro. The Redmagic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro gets its build in January 2027, followed by the 10 Pro series, 10S Pro series, 11 Air, and eSports Tablet 3 Pro in March 2027, before the 10 Air wraps up the list in April 2027.
Interface adjustments and cross platform file transfers
The updated Redmagic OS 12 interface centers around an oversized lockscreen clock and adjustable layout choices. A status bar pop-up called AI Magic Island displays active music controls and live notifications, functioning similarly to Apple’s Dynamic Island feature. The update also adds an AI companion named MORA, along with 1 tap file transfers designed to move files directly to Apple devices.
The software includes a revamped Game Space launcher that adjusts its layout based on the title you open. A built-in Esports Training Arena app offers basic shooting and reaction mini games to test your finger speed before launching a competitive match. Meanwhile, version 3.0 of the X-Gravity platform handles display casting, console streaming, and cloud gaming setups.
China rollout schedule and international release expectations
While these release dates explicitly apply to devices sold in China, global models usually receive updates shortly after regional rollouts begin. The international launch of the Redmagic 12 Pro on November 3, 2026 indicates that the global version of Redmagic OS 12 is already finalized. Porting that completed software over to older hardware generations remains the main step before international units receive over-the-air updates.
Spreading software updates across 5 months means owners of older hardware will have to wait a while for Android 17 features. Still, adding cross-platform file transfers and simple reaction tools gives existing devices a few practical software additions. Checking your settings menu for over-the-air update notifications over the next few months will show when your specific device gets the build.
