The Fairbuds 2 are the upcoming second generation earbuds from Fairphone, and they’re due for a US launch in the very near future. Just around the corner, in fact. Fairphone products haven’t been available to US consumers officially for very long. The Fairphone 6+ launched earlier this year and for the first time, Fairphone was officially selling the phone in the US, doing so through Amazon.
It then teased an October reveal for these new earbuds. The reveal has officially happened, but so far they have only launched in Europe. They were made available on October 14, which is International E-Waste Day, making for a fitting date to release the earbuds to European consumers. Fairphone launched the Fairbuds 2 in The Netherlands, Germany and France for €119, and in the UK for £99. They will also be available in Switzerland for €108, and then Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Norway for €129.
The Fairbuds 2 will launch in the US on November 2
Much like the Fairphone 6+, the Fairbuds 2 are designed as a pair of modular earbuds that make it easy to repair them as needed. The whole point is having a pair of earbuds that promote sustainability, so you can keep the earbuds longer because you can repair or fix parts as you need them instead of just tossing them out and getting something new. In fact, Fairphone says that iFixit has rated the Fairbuds 2 with a score of 10 out of 10 for repairability.
For US consumers, the Fairbuds 2 will allow this kind of freedom starting on November 2, and the earbuds will be priced at $119. The earbuds will be available through Fairphone’s online store but they will also be available through Amazon. The earbuds are already available to purchase through Amazon as well.
The Fairbuds 2 offer up to 40 hours of playback between the earbuds and the case, and if you toss them in the case for only 10 minutes you get 2.5 hours of playback. They also support LDAC for high-fidelity audio streaming, and they have hybrid ANC to block out background noises.
