Apple says HomeView’s best features are its easy controls and natural conversations with the Siri AI. The brand says it is a simple device as it doesn’t offer a long list of smart-home features. Introduced by the Cupertino tech giant earlier this month, the HomeView brings music playback, FaceTime, personal information, and connected devices to a single home screen.
Siri AI makes the hub easier for household members to utilize, says Apple
In an interview with The Verge, two Apple executives mentioned that Siri AI can handle every request without turning each task into a long conversation, like changing a thermostat. With the HomeView, the brand’s aim is to offer completed requests, provide relevant info, and step aside instead of keep continuing the conversation. Recent software updates have already made Siri AI smarter.
“With the magic of Siri AI, [HomeView] comes together in a way that we haven’t been able to deliver before,” Kaiann Drance, vice president of product marketing for home, told The Verge. Lilian Rincon, the company’s VP of product marketing for AI also contributed in the interview, saying Siri would work across user ages and speaking styles.
“As the Siri AI capabilities continue to evolve, the home experience is fitting to be able to interact with in this natural way,” she continued. “Because now it can be my mother-in-law or the Gen Z who’s in college, both of them can use this in the way that they naturally speak and get what they want.”
HomeView aims to keep shared household tasks at the center
During the launch announcement, the company said HomeView’s best features include a shared screen and easy access to daily home tasks. The brand’s first device in the category features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display. It supports music, video calling, messaging, calendar information, and smart home controls.
The device can recognize up to six household members and personalize content for each user. Additionally, the HomeView works seamlessly with compatible Apple Home and Matter accessories. As for the sales, the brand will start selling the smart-home product on November 13 at a starting price of $299.
