Ford has officially hit 80 recalls in the U.S. in 2026 and once again leads all other automakers. The next-closest automaker is Stellantis, with less than half the number of recalls at 39. The latest Ford model to be recalled is the popular F-150 pickup, with some examples of the truck found to have front seats that could be improperly secured. While it’s far from Ford’s largest recall of the year, the condition could be dangerous in a crash and there have already been 56 related warranty claims.
F-150 Recall: What’s Wrong With Ford’s Pickup?

Ford
According to the recall report, which has been published on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) site, some F-150 pickups are equipped with front seat-to-body bolts that may not be properly secured.
“An improperly secured seat may have degraded seat stability and occupant restraint performance in a crash, which increases the risk of injury,” states the report.
The issue affects 2,276 examples of the Ford F-150 between the 2025 and 2027 model years. These vehicles were produced between August 25, 2025, and September 23, 2026. Ford was first made aware of the issue when a warranty report detailing unsecured front seats was reviewed, based on a 2026 version of the pickup. So far, there have been 56 warranty reports and 16 field reports, but Ford isn’t aware of any accidents or injuries related to the condition.
Front-seat occupants may notice physical movement of the seat or a noise from the unsecured seat if the problem occurs.

What Owners Should Do Now

Ford
Ford plans to mail remedy owner notification letters from October 26, 2026. This process will conclude by October 30, 2026. Affected F-150 owners will need to take their pickups to a Ford or Lincoln dealer for an inspection. Proper torquing will be verified, and if necessary, replacement or retorquing will be done.
Fortunately, this is a relatively straightforward fix that’s expected to be completed quickly. That contrasts with many other Ford quality issues and related recalls, many of which have taken over five months to fix.
Owners of 2025, 2026, or 2027 F-150s can use the NHTSA website’s search tool to see if their vehicle is involved in the recall; this can be done by inputting each vehicle’s unique vehicle identification number. Ford’s customer service is also available at 1-866-436-7332 for more information.

Of the 11 powertrain recalls, the largest was for unexpected downshifts that could occur on 2015-2017 F-150 pickups. This recall affected nearly 1.4 million vehicles, but the remedy was fairly simple, as it required only a powertrain control module software update. Another 741,195 Ford and Lincoln models were recalled for a rollaway risk, which was also linked to the powertrain control module software.
Ford has maintained that the high rate of recalls is an indication of improved quality control measures and a proactive approach to identifying vehicle issues, rather than a decline in quality. The brand was ranked as the top-rated mainstream brand in JD Power’s 2026 U.S. Initial Quality Study, so despite the many recalls, Ford’s efforts to improve quality have finally been rewarded.
