XREAL is refreshing its flagship display glasses. The new XREAL 1 Pro+ builds on the One Pro with a brighter display, smoother 3D conversion, and a more comfortable fit, and it plugs straight into most USB-C Android phones for a giant virtual screen wherever you go.
According to XREAL, the 1 Pro+ keeps the core One Pro experience intact. That includes XREAL’s X1 spatial computing chip, native 3DoF spatial anchoring, and a 57-degree field of view. Instead of reinventing the glasses, XREAL focused on the things you notice every day.
The biggest upgrade is the display. It now reaches up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness and adds AI HDR to improve image quality on supported content. It also adds new Standard, Movie, and Reading viewing modes, so you can tweak how content looks depending on what you’re doing.
XREAL also doubled its 2D-to-3D conversion from 30Hz to 60Hz. That feature adds depth to regular 2D content, no matter the source, and the jump to 60Hz should make motion look a lot smoother.
Comfort gets an upgrade too
For longer viewing sessions, the XREAL 1 Pro+ gets a redesigned nose pad system. XREAL says it improves stability and comfort while helping you keep a full, consistent view of the screen. That’s a bigger deal than it sounds. With display glasses, a slightly off fit can cut off the edges of the image, which gets annoying fast during a long movie or flight.
The XREAL 1 Pro+ is available now for $599 at XREAL.com, and retail stores will carry it soon.
This is an incremental update, and that’s fine. Display glasses like these are great for watching YouTube or HBO Max on a plane, and they’re much simpler than a full spatial computer. If you want something more ambitious, XREAL’s AURA runs Android XR with its own compute puck and a 70-degree field of view. But it also costs more than twice as much, starting at $1,279. For most people who just want a big screen on the go, the 1 Pro+ is the smarter buy.
