Facebook is bringing artificial intelligence directly into your timeline to let you customize what you see using plain, everyday language. Instead of letting automated algorithms guess your personal interests based on passive clicks and watch duration, a new AI-powered feature allows you to type out your preferences and shape your feed in real time.
Talking to your feed in plain English
Meta is officially rolling out “Your Algorithm” on Facebook, giving users direct control over their Feed and Reels recommendations through natural language prompts. If you get tired of seeing endless political debates, clickbait headlines, or random viral video clips, you no longer have to wait around hoping automated systems eventually catch the hint.
You can launch the customizer straight from the three-dot menu on any individual post in your Feed or Reels. Clicking either “Interested” or “Not interested” triggers interactive follow-up prompts where you can explain, in your own words, exactly what you liked or disliked about that specific content. According to Meta, large language models process the subtle context, intent, and nuances behind your text feedback. Then, it updates your recommended posts in real time within the exact same scrolling session.
Expanding conversational AI controls across Meta apps
This shift reflects Meta’s broader push to give people direct influence over their social media feeds as artificial intelligence increasingly shapes online content discovery. The company previously introduced similar customization tools on Instagram under the same “Your Algorithm” name across Feed, Explore, and Reels. There’s also a related feature called “Dear Algo” on Threads.
Under the hood, these new LLM-driven ranking systems combine freeform natural language text with traditional engagement signals like post likes, comments, and video watch times. Meta explains that this conversational feedback adapts dynamically. It makes the experience feel less like tweaking a complex settings menu and more like giving direct notes to a personal recommendation assistant. That means rather than digging through confusing privacy menus or managing rigid topic checklists, you can simply tell the app what you want more or less of whenever an unexpected post pops up in your timeline.
