The Samsung Galaxy S23 series is now getting the Android 17-based One UI 9 update. The initial rollout has started, but it’s Korea-only for now, and the units enrolled in the beta program are first in line.

That doesn’t mean your update won’t arrive shortly, though. If we had to guess, we’d say that the update will spread to a ton more markets in a week or so, as that’s usually the case with updates from Samsung.
So, the bottom line is, it’s rolling out in stages, and it kicked off in South Korea, but it’ll spread soon. This update is coming to the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra.
The update for beta users weighs 483.81MB, but you can count on a much bigger file size if you’re not a part of the beta program. Several gigabytes is most likely, so keep that in mind.
Your phone will let you know once the update is available, though you can check on your own if you’d like. You can do that via Settings -> Software update -> Check for updates.
One UI 9.0 is a big update, but it doesn’t bring a revamp of One UI or anything like that
One UI 9.0 is not a huge update by any means, but it still kind of is. What does that mean? Well, it does bring a new version of Android along with it, and some new features and improvements, but it’s not packed with features, nor does it revamp One UI as a whole.
This update does bring more customization options to the Quick Panel. You can now easily resize everything and adapt it so that it works for you. Samsung also pushed out enhancements to Samsung DeX, Samsung Notes, and some new accessibility features.
This update also delivers deeper Gemini integration and some new AI features as well, along with other improvements under the hood.
