Discovery Plus is getting a price hike in the U.S. This comes just a week after the Paramount and Warner Bro. Discovery completed the merger to form Skydance Corp. Both the ad-supported and ad-free plans are getting a price hike, which is effective immediately for new subscribers. Here’s how much it’ll cost for you to stream Discovery Plus content going forward.
Discovery Plus price hike is effective immediately for new subscribers
The Discovery Plus ad-supported plan is seeing a price increase of $1. It will now cost $6.99 per month, a jump from $5.99. Meanwhile, the ad-free plan will increase by $2 from $9.99 to $11.99 per month in the US. As said, the new prices are effective immediately for new customers. Existing subscribers will receive 30 days’ advance notice. They will see the new prices on their billing statement on or after November 12, 2026.
Reportedly, this isn’t a surprise price hike. The Discovery Plus price increase was apparently planned several months ahead of the merger closing. Discovery Plus was part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming business and offers shows from channels such as HGTV, Food Network, TLC, ID, Discovery, Animal Planet, and Magnolia Network. Discovery Plus offers content across genres such as food, home, relationships, true crime, paranormal, adventure, and natural history.
The ad-free plan gets a $2 price increase
Following the merger, Paramount’s Skydance is keeping its streaming services unchanged, for now. But CEO David Ellison previously said the company eventually plans to combine HBO Max and Paramount Plus into a single streaming service. However, an exact date for that is not clear at the moment.
Streaming services are getting expensive. Recently, Disney Plus and Hulu users got hit with a fourth price hike in four years. Both the standalone and bundled plans (except for the ad-supported bundle) saw a price hike.
