Google has pushed out a major update for the Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a true wireless earbuds, and this update adds several new features that improve the user experience with things like enhanced live translate and more.
Google initially announced some of these features as coming to the Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a earlier this year, specifically during the Pixel 11 launch, but it announced this update in its entirety just this week, discussing the details of the upgrades coming on October 6. It has also confirmed that most of these new features are coming to both the Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a so no one is left out, save for older Pixel Buds owners.
The Pixel Buds Pro 2 and Pixel Buds 2a will get upgraded ANC
One of the new features is upgraded ANC, or as Google refers to it, Dynamic Active Noise Cancellation. What this will do is adjust the ANC automatically based on your ear seal. This is the only feature that’s exclusive to the Pixel Buds 2 Pro, while everything else is coming to both models.
Another new feature which was rumored earlier this year, is the tap to mute and unmute the microphone when you’re using the buds for a phone call. You can already mute the mic this way from the phone itself, but now there won’t be any need to do that because the earbuds allow it, so your phone really can stay in your pocket.
Additionally, there’s now an auto-pause feature. If for whatever reason you should decide to fall asleep with these in your ears, the buds can now tell and they will pause your media playback so that it doesn’t continue. Another new feature is the voice-controlled audio settings. You can adjust volume and other audio setting just by speaking with the buds in for more hands-free control. Lastly, Google is also adding enhanced live translate, which lets you start translating with a tap on the buds.
