According to a new report, a new “affordable” folding phone could be on the way. This smartphone will launch as part of Huawei’s Nova lineup, which is reserved for the company’s budget and mid-range devices.
Huawei will launch a new affordable folding phone soon
The information comes from Fixed Focus Digital, a tipster who published the info on Weibo. He did not say exactly when the device is coming, but he did say “soon.” By the looks of it, it could arrive before the end of 2026.
He said that this smartphone could be smaller than the previous-gen model. Just to be clear, we’re talking about a clamshell foldable here, even though that is not specifically mentioned by the tipster. Huawei already announced two of those as part of the ‘Nova’ lineup.
The Huawei Nova Flip arrived back in August 2024, while the Nova Flip S launched in October last year. So, yes, the successor should arrive before the end of 2026, based on Huawei’s timeline thus far.
The report claims that the new model will be smaller than the Nova Flip S, which is another indication that this is a clamshell foldable. You’re out of luck if you were expecting a book-style foldable in the Nova lineup.
A new Huawei Nova Flip phone to follow the Pura X View and Mate 90 series
Huawei did announce some interesting wide devices lately. The Huawei Pura X Max is the company’s wide foldable that arrived in April this year. The Huawei Pura X View, a non-folding wide device, arrived in September.
The company also announced the Huawei Mate 90 series a couple of days ago, along with a monstrous camera attachment that is actually a camera on its own with optical zoom ranges up to 10x.
It seems like a new Huawei Nova Flip phone is next, though we don’t know what its name will be just yet. Huawei could go for the Huawei Nova Flip 2 naming, though.
