Google Home issues can’t seem to settle. It’s one thing after another. Recently, we came across reports of bugs affecting alarm routines, smart lights, and even connected devices failing to answer simple questions. Well, we’re seeing the list getting bigger now, as some users are complaining about a new set of errors in the Home app, but Google appears to be already sending out a fix.
Google Home app is facing fresh errors, but a fix is rolling out
An affected user on Reddit reported that the Google Home app has become very slow and shows errors when tapping/interacting with their connected devices. They also said that reinstalling the app results in an “Internal error encountered” message and a loading indicator. The user seems to be facing errors in the iOS app. However, another user claims they’re facing a similar issue even on the Android app.
This bug seems to be affecting only mobile apps, as the web version is apparently working fine. Regardless, this seems like a frustrating issue. Especially for users who rely on the app to manage essential connected devices, such as home security products.
There’s apparently a workaround
One user who was facing the same issue may have found a workaround. Switching to a different Wi-Fi network and clearing the cache and storage stopped these errors for good. So if you’re already facing similar issues in the Google Home app like many others, it’s worth giving this a shot.
Fortunately, Google is aware of this. The official Nest Community account confirmed that it is actively rolling out a fix for the issue. But if you haven’t received it yet, you might want to wait for a few days. Google hasn’t given out a clear timeline or how long it will take to reach everyone affected.
