Samsung is now pushing out the October 2026 Android security update to its newest foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8.
The update has started rolling out in South Korea, the company’s homeland. It will quickly spread to other markets, though, as is usually the case with these updates. It only takes days for that to happen.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra, and Flip 8 are getting a hefty October 2026 update, but we’re still in the dark
Unfortunately, though, we still don’t know how many security fixes Samsung has fixed with this update. The company has not shared the information just yet. What we do know is that this is a rather hefty update.
The update for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, for example, weighs 5,298.47MB in South Korea, and it brings the firmware version F976NKSS3AZIJ to the device. The updates for the other two phones are similar in size.
We’re not sure why the update is so hefty, but there you go. It’s easily possible it includes more than just security patches, as they certainly don’t require it to be so hefty.
Samsung will hopefully release more information in the coming days
We do know that Samsung will release more information about the update itself in the coming days. The security patch details will certainly arrive soon, and we’d like ot know what exactly sits inside this update package in addition to those fixes.
With that in mind, your phone will let you know once the update is ready. However, you can manually check for it yourself if you want. You can navigate to Settings -> Software update -> Check for updates, and possibly speed up the process a bit.
All three of these smartphones were announced with One UI 9 out of the box. They were the first phones to bring that Android 17-based skin from Samsung to users.
