Not only Hyundai investing “about half a billion dollars” in building the Hyundai Tucson hybrid model, new engines, and extended-range electric vehicles (EREV) powertrain, but speaking with KC Crain of Automotive News Group, Hyundai Motor CEO Jose Muñoz claimed the South Korean automaker’s investment will make it “more American than a lot of the American OEMs.” Muñoz also spoke about plans to expand Hyundai’s US supplier footprint as well as keep developing engineering resources in the US that would focus on creating and improving products for the local market.
