Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra are still months away, but we already have a pretty clear idea of what they’ll look like. Now, a pile of case listings is backing that up.
SammyGuru spotted around 40 case renders for the two phones across several e-commerce sites. They all point to the same thing: a large rectangular camera bar stretching across the top of the back. That lines up with the exclusive Galaxy S27 Ultra CAD renders and Galaxy S27 Pro CAD renders we shared last month.
This is a big departure for Samsung. The company has used vertically stacked cameras on its flagships for years, basically since the Galaxy S20 series. The new look is a lot closer to what Apple did with the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, whether Samsung wants to admit it or not.
Since the Pro and Ultra reportedly share nearly identical designs, it’s tough to tell which case belongs to which phone. The Pro is reportedly going to be a smaller Ultra without the S Pen, with a display around 6.6 inches.
Why the redesign might be about Qi2
So why make such a drastic change? One theory is internal space. Moving the cameras into a horizontal bar could free up room for built-in Qi2 magnets. That would let the Pro and Ultra snap onto magnetic accessories without needing a special case, one of the Galaxy S27 Ultra upgrades fans have waited years for.
The lack of built-in magnets has been one of the biggest gripes with Samsung flagships, and it’s one I share. If this pans out, it’s a very welcome change.
The base Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus reportedly retain the familiar design, as shown in our Galaxy S27 CAD renders. That likely means those two models skip the built-in Qi2 magnets.
Battery is getting a boost on the higher-end models too. A recent leak points to a roughly 5,700 mAh cell in the S27 Ultra, which would finally break Samsung’s 5,000 mAh ceiling.
The Galaxy S27 lineup is expected to launch in early 2027, likely around February. Expect plenty more leaks between now and then.
