Ski swaps and preseason sales are excellent places to find gently used skis, snowboards, boots, helmets, outerwear and other winter gear at prices well below retail. Many events also let families consign the equipment their kids have outgrown, making it easier to offset the cost of the next size up.
We’ve gathered 2026 ski swaps across the United States and Canada into one state-by-state guide so families can find upcoming sales near them.

Tips for Shopping a Ski Swap
A little preparation can make a big difference when shopping for used ski and snowboard equipment.
Go early. Popular kids’ sizes and the best-priced equipment often disappear quickly.
Know everyone’s sizes. Keep a note on your phone with each family member’s ski length, boot size and clothing sizes.
Bring outgrown gear. Many ski swaps accept consignments, allowing you to sell last season’s equipment while shopping for this season.
Check consignment deadlines. Gear drop-off may happen days—or even weeks—before the actual sale.
Be careful with older equipment. Older bindings may no longer be serviceable by ski shops. Ask about the age and condition of equipment before purchasing.
Confirm details before you go. Dates, locations, admission fees and consignment policies can change.

What Should You Buy Used at a Ski Swap?
For growing kids, ski swaps can be particularly useful for finding skis, poles, ski jackets, snow pants and other gear that may only fit for a season or two.
Boots require a little more attention to fit, while bindings and other safety-related equipment should be checked for age, condition and serviceability before purchasing.
When in doubt, ask an experienced ski-shop professional to inspect equipment before your child uses it.
How to Find a Ski Swap Near You
If your state isn’t listed—or your local event hasn’t announced its 2026 dates yet—check with nearby ski mountains, ski clubs, race teams, ski shops and school organizations. Many community ski swaps are fundraisers for youth ski programs and announce their dates in early fall.
