Apple’s first foldable, the iPhone Duo, didn’t hit stores alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series. It will arrive on October 23. The company has spoken at length about its hardware and software during the keynote, but it seems there are still some iPhone Duo features Apple hasn’t spoken about. Well, a new leak is filling some of that gap.
iPhone Duo leak reveals new features coming to StandBy mode
It appears there are several unannounced features reportedly coming to iPhone Duo’s StandBy mode. They have just been discovered hidden in Apple code. The iPhone Duo stands out from the regular iPhone 18 Pro mainly because of its two displays and the special modes available in different setups. You can use the iPhone Duo folded or unfolded, in portrait or landscape, and in either “seated” or “standing” modes.
While the standing setup works great for watching videos, it also unlocks several new StandBy features. Unlike previous iPhones, you can use iPhone Duo’s StandBy mode even when it’s not charging. Apple already showed off several StandBy features during the announcement. Now, leaker pdfu has uncovered some new ones.
These join the previously seen StandBy views
According to pdfu, Apple code reveals five new StandBy views the company didn’t discuss yet. These include Home Camera, Home Modular, Flow, Fade, and Snoopy. The first two will reportedly let users view a single camera feed, a grid of camera feeds, or create custom smart home controls. Flow could show some kind of responsive artwork. There are no details yet about Fade. Lastly, the Snoopy view is expected to look similar to the tvOS screensaver.
These new options will join the previously seen StandBy views like Analog, Digital, Classic, Calendar, Weather, Photos, Memories, Shared, Albums, and Modular. The leaker also reveals a new editor that could let users customize and configure several StandBy views, including their appearance and available options. Users can apparently swipe between settings, then scroll through available options. It closely matches the Apple Watch face editor.
