Google Could Be Working on a New Look for Gemini Settings

Google is constantly at work improving Gemini. That sometimes includes changes to the app’s layout and settings, in addition to new models. Last week, we came across reports of a new Gemini Settings design that moves some information from the account switcher. Now, Google seems to be working on further changes to the Gemini Settings UI.

Google is reportedly preparing to overhaul the Gemini Settings UI

Folks at Android Authority spotted these changes while looking at version 17.60.13.sa.arm64 of the Google app for Android. This build still shows the current Settings layout, but they’ve managed to preview some of the changes Google is working on behind the scenes. The new design reportedly looks noticeably different from Gemini’s current Settings.

The report says that right now these options exist as part of the app’s account switcher. But Google was reportedly planning to move many of them into Gemini Settings. But now, it looks like Gemini Settings itself could be getting a new design that more closely resembles the current account switcher options.

A new ‘Tasks on Android’ option

Previously, it was reported that Google was preparing to divide Gemini Settings into some new groupings, organizing entries into categories for Preferences, Data & privacy, and Get support. While those categories are still here, they now appear in the new design. However, several other options that are currently part of Gemini Settings could move into separate sub-screens.

Both Voice options and those for Device Controls would be accessible through these new pages. This reorganization could make Gemini Settings easier to navigate, as the current options are spread across different sections, making it less intuitive to find a specific setting.

Additionally, Android Authority spotted a new “Tasks on Android” option. This option doesn’t appear to be moving from another part of Settings. Based on its description, it could be related to Gemini Spark or, perhaps more likely, Gemini Intelligence. That said, it’s still unclear what plans Google has for it. We may have to wait until the new Settings UI is here to get a better idea of how it will work.
