In the beginning, there was nothing, then came steam, gasoline, diesel, forced induction, hybridization, hydrogen, full electrification, and so on. Every step felt like a massive leap in human ingenuity. While the EV hype was strong for a few years, automakers have rolled it back as consumers discovered the lack of infrastructure, severe depreciation, and costs associated with replacing expensive batteries. That said, hybrids are the way to many consumers’ hearts.
