Google is working on bringing a new feature to Pixel phones that is poised to add even more layers of convenience to the family of devices, and it’s titled ‘Call for Me.’ The new Call for Me feature is exactly like what it sounds like. It’s a feature that makes calls for you on your behalf when you aren’t able to make those calls yourself.
Google already offers other features that are sort of like this on Pixel phones with answering calls for you, and in some specific cases calls can be made for users for certain things, such as making reservations at restaurants. Unlike those functions, however, Call for me reportedly seems to be designed for a slightly different purpose.
The Call for me feature is not necessarily exclusive to Pixel phones
As noted by Android Authority, Call for me isn’t specified as a Pixel-exclusive feature. Details about the feature itself were discovered in the Phone by Google app in version 239.0.980790129 beta, but there are no references or indicators to this being a Pixel-only feature. However, other Gemini-powered calling features are exclusive to Pixels.
With Call for me, details point to the feature being able to “navigate customer support hotlines on your behalf” the report says. For example, calling up a customer support number and moving through the subsequent channels until a live person gets on the line to help you.
The report doesn’t mention anything about a specific launch date for this feature, but it does mention that it isn’t available yet and that the feature doesn’t appear to be live or in working order. Just that Google is working on it. Additionally, there are some details about users being able to choose how they monitor the audio, whether that be through speakerphone or though headphones, so they know when to come back to the call.
