Forced into a second facelift in a world not yet ready for full EV adoption, Volvo has announced the 2028 XC60 compact luxury SUV, which will line up alongside the all-electric EX60 in the Swedish automaker’s lineup. Riding on the same SPA platform as the larger XC90, this second-generation XC60 dates back to the 2018 model year in the US market, making it nearly a decade old. But with technology that evolves over time, and fresh styling, it’s hoping to remain relevant. Most importantly, though, new powertrain technologies could prove to be the perfect middle ground for buyers who don’t want an EV.
